Start early

By Cedric Pendleton

As a kid, I participated in sports all year. Summers filled with baseball, football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. Those moments of activity in my youth have affected my desire for physical fitness as an adult.  Working out centers me and allows me to pray, “Oh God, one more rep!”

Recently, I sat and watched a track coach influencing young women to strive to do their best. It made me wonder what role fitness will play in their womanhood? Will fitness be included in what they will teach their children… Truly, health begins with those who have the ability to birth a nation – women … My mother did it to me. I encourage you…be active.
