Windy Wonderland

By Cedric Pendleton

The wind is blowing; trees are swaying in the drift of this unseasonable warm winter breeze. I am on the mark to hit the two mile point of my daily run when I look into the sky and notice something that I had not seen in this posh progressive neighborhood. There among the trees, towering over everything in sight stood a wind turbine in full effect.

A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind, also called wind energy, into mechanical energy; a process known as wind power. In turn this is used to produce electricity.

I started screaming like a kid getting a new toy for Christmas. Jumping up and down I yelled, “Everyone is on board!” It made my day to see this device in action among homeowners.
I realized that the cost associated with putting this alternative energy in place is affordable now. With the tax incentives being offered to homeowners, this is one home improvement that keeps giving.
